![]() | Communication Technology Connectivity between two points for exchange of information has till now been limited to usage of land based leased only. This technology is not only prone to frequent breakdowns besides being expensive but it can also be difficult to implement. Recent amendments in the IT Policy for the nation have tried to address issues like this. In the Gazette published on 25th July 2000 containing resolutions of the govt. and orders of Hon’le President, it has been stated that –
The radio frequency band in the range of 2.400-2.4835 GHz is now open for exploitation for last mile connectivity as per published sitting criterion followed by SACFA by any government organizations or PSU or Private Sector Company to set up Spread Spectrum based non-interface type Wireless equipment subject to a maximum of 4W EIRP and a maximum channel spread of 10 MHz.
There is more that appears in this gazette but in short, even at national level, usage of IT and its tools are being encouraged. NIC as a pioneer organization in the field of communication, has already come out with a Hub based Spread Spectrum Wireless Access Networks and this is what we are planning to deploy for connecting our Divisions and the BSEB-HQ for working on our databases in a distributed environment.
